Maxi, I need your help
Hey I have a question that Will said that you might be able to answer.
Not too long ago I downloaded LimeWire. Things went great with it for about two weeks. Normally I had it on while listening to the music that I had downloaded, so it was basically never closed. Well, I decided one day that I didn't want itso I closed it. Only to have itback up again a minute later. This went on and on until I just said fuck it and uninstalled it. The main icons dissappeared from my computer so I thought all we well and good until the fucker poped up again. So I tried uninstalling it yet again and attempted to delete the program thinking that would solve the problem only to find that I couldn't delete the folder until I shut LimeWire down. I triedng the task manager to do so since I couldn't find anyicons for LimeWire but I can't get the task manager tonow.
I've already ran a virus scan, which turned up two viruses, which I fixed but I still can'tthe task manager to shut down LimeWire so I can take the fucking fuck off my computer. And now I have a error box popping up from LimeWire stating that the program couldn't be started because a certian file is missing. And this fucking thing is popping up just as often as LimeWire before I tried to delete it.
I really need help fixing this problem, or my computer is going to take a flight off the god damned patio.

Re: Maxi, I need your help
I'm assuming you are running windows xp
Right click on MY computer
click on manage
click on services and applications
click on services
see if you can find one called limewire in there or related in some way
right click on it and pick stop
then try deleting the files again
or
reboot your computer and when it is starting up keep pressing F8 until it gives you the option to boot into safe mode. boot into safe mode and try deleting the files.

Re: Maxi, I need your help
Clean Out Limewire
First, uninstall Limewire normally from the Control Panel/Add-Remove Programs section. If it's not in the Add-Remove Programs section, navigate to the "C:\Program Files" folder, the "Limewire" folder, thenthe "UninstallerData" folder and run the "Uninstall LimeWire 18c" icon.
Once that is done, then download, install, update, and run ALL of the free spyware removal tools from the links below:

Re: Maxi, I need your help
My recommendation, if you care to here it.
Make sure you have the original LimeWire installation files on your computer.
Shut down the machine.
Unplug the network cable (for DSL and CABLE modem users), or DO NOT connect to the net if your Dial-Up. Basically you want the machine disconnected from the web.
Boot the machine (DO NOT CONNECT TO THE WEB!).
Re-Install LimeWire and reboot.
Do not connect to the web yet.
You should now be able to uninstall the program via the Add/Remove Programs plugin in the Control Panel.
Once you’ve removed the application ensure all files and folders are gone from the installation directory (if they are not attempt to remove them manually).
Shut down the machine.
Plug the network cable back in and boot.
Hope this helps, I know I use LimeWire but I make sure it is not hosting a shared folder and I only have it running when I'm downloading. These P2P apps are prone to attack so it's best to use them as little as possible.

Re: Maxi, I need your help
Recluse's recomendation is sort of what I did, but making sure you arn't plugged in is a good point I didn't mention to you last night. I'm guessin tho that you didn't try what I said or you simply didn't read it.
When my limewire did this, as I'm sure you already figured out, it was because of a virus, this seems common for you are now the like 12th person I know who has had this problem. Among some of the other things suggested I also made sure my windows firewall blacklisted limewire, so in otherwords it wasn't allowed to still send and recieve shit. That, combined with not being online, allowed me to uninstall limewire without a single problem.
I then ran a new anti-virus and spyware scan just in case.

Ya, what Recluse just said is what I thought of while driving home today and was eager to come type it here. But look like he beat me to it.
