This is for users with a flat screen monitor that want the fonts of everything they read to be as crisp and sharp as possible.
1. Right click on your desktop and select properties.
2. When the "Display Properties" window, select the APPEARANCE tab that is on the top.
3. Then toward the bottom right you will see an EFFECTS button. Click that and the EFFECTS window willup.
4. Now, on this EFFECTS window, check the box if it isn't already that says "Use the following method to smooth edges of screen fonts:"
5. Then on that drop down menu that says STANDARD, click it and change it to ClearType.
6. Then click the OK button on that Effects window, then click the OK button again on the Display Properties window.
That's it. You'll now notice that your fonts are much cleaner looking than they were before. This works on regular CRT monitors too, but sometimes it makes the fonts look worse. ClearType works best for flat screen monitors.
